Hello

I’m Mr Long — a qualified teacher with 15 years of classroom experience and a clear focus: helping children gain places at local grammar schools through expert, one-to-one 11+ tuition.

Having spent most of my career teaching in upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6), I understand exactly what children need to succeed — not just academically, but in terms of confidence, stamina, and exam technique.

 

My lessons are calm, structured, and carefully tailored to each child, with plenty of encouragement and support along the way.

I work exclusively with 11+ students and provide face-to-face tuition only — no online sessions, and no group work. This ensures your child receives my full attention and a completely personalised learning experience from day one.

As a parent myself, I know how important this journey is. I’m married with two teenage boys — my eldest is currently studying Biology at Bristol University, and my youngest is in his final year at Bournemouth School. It feels like a lifetime ago that I was tutoring him for his own entrance exams!

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually out walking, watching sport, or trying to convince my cat, Ninja, to move from his latest napping spot.
